THE POWER OF POSITIVE AFFIRMATION

Scripture Reading: Genesis 1:3

“Today the Holy Spirit wants us to learn about the power underlying making positive declarations. I grew up in an environment that was characterized with fear and negative things; an environment where one was always afraid that something bad was going to happen. This affected me a lot and I was almost drowned by fear. One day, I said to myself, “I will no longer live this kind of life of fear.” Thereafter, I began to confess positively. Even when people see a situation as negative and hopeless, I just believed it was not so and it worked for me. God helped me to overcome unnecessary fear and negative affirmation. Dear child of God, learn to make only positive statements and comments; for there is a divine energy that God releases to it that makes it happen the way you said it will. In Mathew 9:24, the power of positive affirmation was taught by our Lord Jesus, thus, “… The little girl is not dead – she is only sleeping!” In John 11:14, Jesus made yet another powerful positive affirmation, “The final result of this illness will not be the death of Lazarus.” Beloved, words of our mouth are not mere sounds; they have real power to either make a positive or negative impact in our lives. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat of the fruit thereof.” Just reflect, you will see that each time we make negative comments, strife, division, war, bitterness, etc., can occur. On the contrary, when your comment is positive, it brings a positive impact with positive reactions like, love, peace, healing, joy, liberation even life. In Genesis 2:20, God gave Adam the power to name all the birds and all the animals. Whatever Adam called the animal or bird is what they bore and became. A Christian writer once said, “I once doubted the efficacy of affirmations, but when I read in the first five Books of Moses, the expression. “ I am Jehovah”, occurring more than twenty five hundred times, then I knew the value of affirming, reiterating  and confessing the fullness of Jesus Christ and of his finished work in the presence of my weakness; in the presence of my enemies, in the presence of hell. In Numbers 14:26-28, the people of Israel used negative words against God, so a curse was placed on them; from a certain age limit, God banned them from entering the promised land.  Like the Psalmist in Psalm 118:17, learn to make positive states such as, “I will not die; instead I will live and proclaim what the Lord has done.

Dear child of God, begin to  confess positively, to yourself. Tell yourself, “I will make it in this life”, “I will live long” “this sickness will not kill me”. “I will not die in this condition.” Friend, feed yourself with faith in Christ Jesus, trust in his ability to do all things and you would have starved doubt, negativity and unbelief to death. Secondly feed your inner man with the living word of God and you would not have space for negative words as the Spirit of God would always give you words to say in all situations of life. Beloved in Christ, there is power in spoken word so be careful what you say. You can repair a seemly bad situation or condition by the words of your mouth. Always think and act positively so that every day of your life shall experience the light of God’s grace and power.
