Lunch and Learn with Dr. James Wellman, M.D.

Sleep plays a vital role in maintaining proper health by renewing our minds and bodies each day. Still, about 70 million Americans suffer from a sleep issue and nearly 60 percent have a chronic sleep illness. Due to the ongoing competition between sleep and lifestyle, our nation’s sleep problem is considered by the Center for Disease Control as a public health epidemic in our country.

With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Wellman specializes in Pulmonology and the clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of sleep disorders. Dr. Wellman graduated from the West Virginia University School of Medicine also holding a Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina. After completing his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital and fellowship at Harvard University, he went forward into private practice and adjunct professorship with Northside Hospital and Emory University School of Medicine.

With nearly 30 publications, he is also certified by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Wellman has a wealth of knowledge and will give a valuable overview about sleep, spending ample time interacting with audience questions about sleep patterns, problems and solutions.
